By request, the guests of the Piccole Grotte could make use of little rubber dinghy , with which they can go on an unforgettable trip for 10 km along the Costa Viola . There they can enjoy a wonderful panorama full of indentations and attractive beaches, sandy and white, where the transparency of the waters enhances the emerald green of the seabeds.

You can't miss the "appointment" with the mythical Bronzi of Riace and the interesting archeological finds, which date back to the period of Magna Grecia. They are kept in the Museum of Reggio Calabria, only 20 km away from Scilla and easy to reach by public transport.

If you are keen on diving, it is possible to make use of the Diving Centre of Scilla and appreciate the seabeds, characterized by fauna and flora of extreme botanical interest: among these the red and yellow gorgonians , attracting funs from all the world. It is possible to spend a whole day doing Fishing-Tourism on board the local "Passerelle" for the fishing of the swordfish. It is a violent and passionate fight between the man and the animal, which both the protagonists use all their ability, their strength and their instict.

In the small village, there is a series of little restaurants, more and more well-organized, overlooking the sea of Chianalea and its exclusice and magic terraces, where it is possible to taste the local sea cooking, characterized by the fresh fish of the Costa Viola.









You can go on an excursion in Gambarie d'Aspromonte, a renowned tourist destination where the rich green of the mountains let you breathe fresh and healthy air.

The B&B "The Piccole Grotte" also offers an extra service of scooter hire: by scooter you can reach the nearby Favazzina, also famous for its delicious "granite"(crushed-ice drinks), or other little villages along the coast.
From the harbour of Reggio Calabria, about 15 km far away from Scilla, it is possible to reach the Eolie Islands and the nearby Taormina , by a daily service of hydrofoils.

The Sagra del Pescespada (Festival of the Swordfish), is a well-established occasion by now: it is organized by the Cultural Association "Chianalea" and takes place at the harbour of Scilla during the first week of August. The event is characterized by the old method of fishing with the "luntri", a four-oars boat, black-painted, used to catch the swordfish.

You shouldn't miss Saint Rocco's Day, patron Saint of Scilla, that is celebrated every year with the participation of many and many devotees. A typical moment is that of the fireworks from the water, which attract thousands of visitors for their extraordinary beauty.
In the summertime, you can spend whole days on the beach of Marina Grande , sunning yourself and bathing in the clear and wonderful sea, with the comfort of thelidos of the beach. Thanks to the quality of its water, the sea of Scilla has got, for the fourth consecutive year, the prestigious prize of the "Bandiera Blu" (Blue Flag).This prize has drawn the attention of the national mass-media to Scilla but, above all, of TV programmes dealing with the sea(Linea Blu, Uno Mattina, L'Italia dei Porti).
