The building seen from the sea
The Building

The building of "Le Piccole Grotte" was realized on a construction erected at the end of the XIX century. Thanks to its location just on the sea, it has always been used as a fishermen's house: the basement flat was used as a shelter for boats and tools useful for this old but charming craft.

Thanks to its solidity, the building keeps really well-preserved till today: it has resisted intact also to the disastrous seaquake in 1908.

The restoration has been made by keeping the original structure and by renovating ornaments and decorations, typical of the XX century.

The building is decorated with local handicrafts, such as Seminara pottery, wrought iron and wood finishes. Thanks to its architectural balance, the building is a very good solution to offer comfort and a warm welcome.

From the balconies overlooking the sea, the guests can enjoy a wonderful view and it seems that they can touch with their hand the impressive Rocks of the Cyclops. This panorama, for its peculiarities, has inspired the Greek mythology and stimilated poets, writers and painters' fantasy.
